Self tanning season is ON! & FAQ
LUUV self-tanners give the skin a natural, even-looking glow without UV exposure. The result is a healthy, golden skin tone – never orange or patchy. At the same time, the products care for the skin by providing hydration and softness.
All self-tanners are COSMOS/ECOCERT certified, vegan, and suitable even for more sensitive skin.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the right shade?
The Light shade is suitable for fair skin tones (for example redheads or very fair blondes) and also works well during winter.
The Medium shade suits most skin tones and gives a natural-looking tan.
Choose the Dark shade if you want a deeper and more intense result, especially during summer.
Does the product have a self-tanner scent?
Our dry oils and foams are fragrance-free, meaning no added fragrance has been used. However, a slight natural self-tanner scent may still develop. This varies greatly from person to person.
Does it stain clothes or bed linen?
Generally, no – once the product has dried, you can comfortably get dressed or go to bed.
However, heavy sweating may cause slight transfer.
Can it cause allergies?
Like any cosmetic product, self-tanners may cause a reaction if your skin is sensitive to certain ingredients.
The dry oil and body lotion contain erythrulose – a natural sugar-based self-tanning ingredient derived from plant sources (including fermentation processes linked to raspberries). Because of this, the products may not be suitable for people with raspberry allergies.
We recommend doing a patch test before use.
Is it suitable for men?
Yes, absolutely – it is suitable for anyone who wants a natural-looking glow.
Which products should I use before and after self-tanner?
Before and after application, avoid oil-based or very rich products, as they may slow down tan development and make the result uneven.
For the best result, exfoliate the skin before use (avoid oil-based scrubs).
Tip: the better hydrated your skin is, the longer the tan will last.
Can it be used with different skin concerns (acne, rosacea, keratosis, eczema)?
Every situation should be assessed individually. Self-tanner works only on the surface layer of the skin. We generally do not recommend applying it to very inflamed or irritated skin.
In the case of pigmentation issues, self-tanner can often help even out skin tone. However, if it seems to emphasize darker spots, keep in mind that the effect is temporary and fades away over time.
Can it be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
There are no known contraindications, as the tanning reaction occurs only on the surface layer of the skin.
Can the products be used on the face?
The dry oil and body lotion can also be used on the face, but we recommend testing first on the jawline area.
The color may develop more intensely on facial skin, so the product can be mixed with a moisturizer.
We do not recommend using the foam on the face.
Can it cause breakouts?
Based on customer feedback so far, the products have not been shown to cause breakouts, but every skin type is different.
Do self-tanners dry out the skin?
Our dry oils and body lotion actually help moisturize the skin.
When using the foam, we recommend also applying a hydrating body lotion.
Can I use it while sunbathing?
It is not recommended to sunbathe immediately after applying the product.
Reasons:
- sunburn may be harder to notice
- the product does not contain SPF and does not protect against UV radiation
I didn’t get tan enough – what should I do?
If the result is too subtle, choose a darker shade or apply the product repeatedly.
Important: avoid oil-based or very rich products before application, as they can prevent the tan from developing properly.
How does the tan fade?
The tan fades evenly and does not become patchy.
How long does the self-tanner last?
Usually 4–7 days, depending on skin condition and aftercare.
How often should self-tanner be used?
1–2 times a week to maintain an even and fresh-looking result.
How can I avoid streaks?
- use an applicator mitt
- blend carefully around knees, elbows, and ankles. You can also lightly moisturize these areas beforehand
- avoid using too much product
- press the mitt together before application to distribute the product evenly on the mitt
